Pacific Rug Gallery sold high-end rugs — the kind you don’t just “add to cart” — but they faced a major problem: customers were reluctant to drive to the store without knowing prices, and the business didn’t want to display prices online. The result? Very few visits and even fewer serious buyers.

Selling expensive products without upfront pricing meant the only way to close a sale was to get customers physically in the showroom. But with no online sales process, no clear entry point for potential customers, and expensive inventory gathering dust, there was no consistent flow of qualified leads walking in the door.

I knew we had to make Pacific Rug Gallery part of the customer’s life before asking them to make a big purchase. Instead of pushing the rugs directly, I focused on a different service they already offered: rug washing. It was affordable, relevant, and the perfect way to start a relationship.From there, I built a marketing funnel designed to nurture those service customers into premium buyers:

Email Automation: Every washing client received a series of beautifully branded emails with special offers, new arrivals, and care tips that subtly reintroduced them to the gallery’s luxury collection.

Google Ads Optimization: I ran hyper-local campaigns targeting affluent Vancouver neighbourhoods, ensuring ads reached the people most likely to appreciate (and afford) the products.

VIP Showings: I created a booking system for private showroom visits, each leading to a high-touch, in-store experience — complete with a tailored follow-up funnel to keep the conversation alive.This wasn’t about hard selling. It was about starting small, building trust, and guiding customers toward the bigger purchase at their own pace.
